While being interviewed the by Dannille DuRant, the Editor of "Just Thinking" Magazine, Ravi Zacharias, president of Ravi Zacharias International Ministries, was asked if he agreed with the following quote by Philosopher Peter Kreeft.
"The most serious challenge for Christianity today isn't one of the other great religions of the world such as Islam or Buddhism." "Rather it is paganism."
Ravi Zaharias response:
I don't think I'd agree with him completely... I don't think that's the greatest threat we face. I think the whole Islamic worldview has a real challenge and I'll tell you why. It is political. It has a moral theory. It has a cultural theory. It has a financial theory. So, I think in its core the Islamic worldview would pose a greater challenge to the life and lifestyle of the Western worldview, because in the western worldview you are given the freedom to believe and to disbelieve. It's not always true in Islamic Nations. "Just Thinking Magazine" Volume 20.3
It is no secret that Islam is rapidly becoming a significant force in America today.
The First Mosque built in America was built in 1934 in Cedar Rapids Iowa. At this present time there is at least one mosque in every American city. It is estimated that there are three million Muslims in America, nearly two million are converts. In fact, there are 250,000 Muslims in Detroit alone.
Where is the Church?
Does the Great Commission apply to Muslims? Is Islam unstoppable? Can the Church reach Muslims with the Gospel of Jesus Christ? The answer is "yes" to all three questions.
In just the past few years the church has started to increase its work among Muslims and has seen a remarkable increase of Muslims coming to Christ.
If you or your church are interested in starting a Muslim outreach ministry please contact David N. Hughes Ministries Inc through this website.
I leave you with this quote by Joseph P. Gudel, a Christian author:
The "typical" Muslim is not an imposing, bearded sheik floating in oil, nor a militant, gun-toting terrorist, nor a modern-day "Sinbad the Sailor. "Rather he or she is usually a devout person. attempting to reach God through a man-made religious system, totally unaware of the grace available through Jesus Christ.
