The word Islam is an Arabic word that means "submission," not peace. The word "Muslim" means "one who submits." If that is the case then why all the confusion? Islamic Scholars continue to teach half-truths and outright lies about Islam. The main stream media repeats the information without doing any research.
Theoretically peace will come to the world when all Muslims and non-Muslims submit to Allah in one accord. Muslims believe that Muhammad's message and call is universal. This means that everyone must "submit" unto Allah and the Islamic way of life.
The problem is that most Christians, and many people of other faiths, may not be inclined to willingly embrace Islam. If that is the case, then the peace that Islam speaks of will not come about.
Allah and His Messenger, Muhammad has given you and me no choice as to accept or reject Islam. Allah and His messenger have decreed that you will submit willingly or by force, you will have no say in the matter.
The following are quotes from the Qur'an:
YUSUFALI: Say: "O men! I am sent unto you all, as the Messenger of Allah, to Whom belongeth the dominion of the heavens and the earth: there is no god but He: it is He That giveth both life and death. So believe in Allah and His Messenger, the Unlettered Prophet, who believeth in Allah and His words: follow him that (so) ye may be guided." Surah 007:158
Fight against Christian until they pay a tax in acknowledgment that they are in a state of subjection (to Islam).
SHAKIR: Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Messenger have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth, out of those who have been given the Book, until they pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection. Surah 009.29
YUSUFALI: Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies, of Allah and your enemies, and others besides, whom ye may not know, but whom Allah doth know. Whatever ye shall spend in the cause of Allah, shall be repaid unto you, and ye shall not be treated unjustly. Surah 008.060
YUSUFALI: But if the enemy incline towards peace, do thou (also) incline towards peace, and trust in Allah: for He is One that heareth and knoweth (all things). Surah 008.061
Peace only through submitting to Allah and His messenger Muhammad.
