Muhammad died on June 8th 632 A.D.
Muslims the world over believe that Muhammad is the final prophet. Islam teaches that Muhammad has "the seal of the prophets," bringing the final revelation from Allah to mankind. He is called al-insan al-kamil, the prefect man. Muslims view Muhammad as the sinless saint, and Islam teaches that Muhammad's life and the way he conducted himself are models for humanity.
What does history reveal about this man called Muhammad? Was he actually a prophet from God? What is the truth about Muhammad and can we trust the Muslim viewpoint of this man?
The Hadith is a collection of statements and actions of Muhammad. They are bound into six volumes and contain more than three thousand references that are attributed to his life. However these volumes are not a total presentation of all that Muhammad did or said.
Most of the information about Muhammad is found in the Hadith, and biographies that have been written. There is a problem with these writings as to the accuracy of the information that they hold. They have been found to be contradictory and often with no logical order of events. The Hadith as well as most of the biographies were written two centuries after the events took place and are conflicting in details.
Muhammad was born in the city of Mecca, which is now located in Saudi Arabia. Muhammad's father died before he was born. His mother died when he was six. Extended family members raised Muhammad. He was married to his first wife, khadijah when he received his call to be the Prophet of Allah.
Historians have written that Muhammad was an avid seeker of the truth about god and religious practices. He often spoke to Christians and Jews about their beliefs. His own people worshiped many gods. Muhammad believed that neither Christians nor Jews had anything to offer that would save his people from their misguidance.
Muhammad would spend time on a religious retreat. He would venture out alone to the caves located outside of Mecca. He was on one of these religious retreats when he had an encounter with a Spirit being which was later named Gabriel. Before this encounter Muhammad experienced visions and dreams.
Muhammad was forty years old when this encounter took place. By all counts it was a very violent and frightful experience for Muhammad. He considers this as the starting point for his prophetic call and this is when he received his first revelation.
An account of the encounter is found in The Holy Qur'an, beginning in chapter 96: 01 thru 91:05. The revelation he received throughout his life contradicts most all Biblical teachings.
The contradictions are:
 Allah (God) Hates all unbelievers
It is permissible for Muslims to murder unbelievers and other Muslims who are unfaithful
Jesus is not the Son of God
Jesus did not die on the cross
When Muhammad died, according to the historic accounts, it was on a Tuesday. His followers warped Muhammad in a red rug and buried him on a hillside overlooking Mecca, where he remains today.
The Apostle Paul warns us:
But even if, we or an angel from heaven,
Preach any other gospel to you than what
We preached to you, let him be accursed.
As we have said before, so now I say again,
If anyone preaches any other gospel to you
Than what you have received, let him be accursed.
Galatians 1:8-9 NKJ.
