no meaning. This word was used to describe Mohammed Morsi, who now controls Egypt. Islam is not a democratic belief system, and never will be. The Qur'an clearly states this fact:
YUSUFALI: It is not fitting for a Believer, man or woman, when a matter has been decided by Allah and His Messenger to have any option about their decision: if any one disobeys Allah and His Messenger, he is indeed on a clearly wrong Path. Surah 033:036
Mohammed Morsi, stated when he was elected that the Qur'an would be the "constitution" in which he would govern.
In fact freedom is an anti-Islamic concept. In Islam all of life's decisions have been made by Allah and His Prophet Muhammad.
The word "Islam" means to" submit" or "surrender." The word "Muslim" means one who "submits" or "surrenders."
If the word "Islamist" means "one who embraces Islam" then the proper term would be Muslim. Why would the media use the word 'Islamist" instead of Muslim? In America the word Muslim is synonymous with terrorism, calling the Egyptian President an Islamist, is a veiled attempt to make Islam less threatening to the American public.
In the Qur'an Muhammad never called himself or his followers "Islamist" they called themselves "Muslims."
